Tenancy of Shops (Scotland) Act 1949

We provide tailored and innovative solutions.

TENANCY OF SHOPS ACT GLASGOW, SCOTLAND

Tenants of commercial premises that are at least partly a shop (for instance, a car mechanics that also sells accessories) have additional protections where a commercial landlord serves a formal notice confirming that the lease will end on its expiry.

This can cause huge problems for a shop, which might otherwise be trading well and complying with its obligations under the commercial lease. In certain circumstances, a commercial shop tenant can apply to the court via the Tenancy of Shops (Scotland) Act 1949 for a renewal of the lease of the shop.  More detailed information can be found in a blog post on our website.
