Extended Hours Applications

Extended Hour Application Lawyers Glasgow, Scotland

If you hold a Premises Licence and are you looking to trade before or after your normal licensed hours, perhaps for a special event, you are entitled to apply to your local Licensing Board for Extended Hours. Extensions must relate to a special event or occasion to be catered for on the premises or a special event of local or national significance. Common examples include weddings, launch parties, Freshers’ Week events and sports screening events. Each extension can run for up to one month, and most Boards place a limit on the number of extensions you can apply for in a year – our team will be able to advise if that applies in your area.

It is important to remember that an Extended Hours application might not always be required. Most Licensing Boards grant automatic extensions over the festive period, as well as for public holidays. In Edinburgh, general extensions are also granted for the month of August to accommodate the Festival.

The team at Hill Brown Licensing are well versed on the quirks of the different Licensing Boards and will be able to advise on whether an Extended Hours application is required for your event and, if so, the likelihood of grant and timescales.
