Property and planning disputes between neighbours are a frequent occurrence, but when one of the parties involved is a well-known television personality then the dispute becomes much more high profile.
Comedienne and television presenter Sue Perkins has apparently found herself embroiled in a disagreement with her neighbours over their plans to build a bungalow in the garden of their current home, reports the Daily Mail.
The property in question is a large three-storey townhouse in the Hampstead area of North London. The couple, who are in their 80s, wish to downsize but remain in the area and so submitted a planning request to build a bungalow at the end of their garden in a space currently occupied by a double garage. Their intention is to live in this bungalow and sell the townhouse.
However, the plans have attracted objections and criticism from many neighbours, including Sue Perkins, who has reportedly described the proposals as 'unconscionable'. In total, around 25 local residents have objected, raising concerns about the impact of the plans on the character of the area and that giving planning permission would set a precedent for other developments in the area.
Camden Council has yet to give a decision on the planning application.
